Good morning. It’s Medal Monday, October 30. We’re covering the top races from the weekend, including the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, the Dublin Marathon, and the Marines Corps Marathon.
Indianpolis Monumental Marathon
Early morning rain set the stage for a slick course with some gusting winds, but otherwise conditions worked out well for runners in Indianapolis this weekend. Both course records were broken in the marathon by Lyle O’Brien with a time of 2:15:39 and Rachel Hannah in the women’s race at 2:35:16. The women’s 5K course record also fell with Mackenzie Callahan coming in at 16:03.

Dublin Marathon
On again, off again rain did not stop the men’s course record from being broken at the Dublin Marathon this weekend. Kemal Husen of Ethiopa set the new record at 2:06:52. The women’s winner, Amente Sorome Negash, also of Ethiopia, came in with a time of 2:26:22. Entry into the 2024 event starts as early as tomorrow!

Frankfurt Marathon
With a little early morning rain, the Frankfurt Marathon turned out to be fantastic running conditions for the elite athletes before devolving back into heavier rains later in the race. The indoor finish to the marathon gave a great atmosphere and the lights were flashing as Brimin Kipkorir Misoi won the men’s race with a time of 2:04:53. Buzunesh Gudeta won the women’s race in a time of 2:19:27, missing the course record by 17 seconds.

Marine Corps Marathon
Due to elevated heat and humidity, the Marine Corps Marathon was cut short by 30 minutes, with the final runners being diverted directly to the finish line. Julius Kogo (Durham, NC) won the men’s race in 2:25:56, and Bonnie A Keating (San Diego, CA) crushed the competition in 2:50:49, winning the women’s race by over seven minutes.
