Saddleback Marathon
Race Day Weather
Cool morning, warming afternoon
Runners will face a temperature rise from 50°F at the start to a peak of 77°F. A light breeze from the SSE at 9 mph will provide some relief but may gust to 28 mph. With average humidity at 44%, hydration should be prioritized as temperatures climb, and runners are advised to adjust their pace in warmer segments.
California's premiere trail marathon was first run in the Saddleback Mountains of the Cleveland National Forest in 1988. An annual event for nearly three decades, it was cancelled in 2018 (#HolyFire)on its 30th anniversary. We were back in 2019, re-routed, and then cancelled by the pandemic in 2020 and back again in 2023, again re-routed. This year, 2024, we're planning on returning to the original course where so many of us in Southern California fell in love with trail running. Source
