The Half Marathon is a single-track trail loop through the Manistee National Forest near Wellston, Michigan, and it is run on both days of race weekend. The route climbs the long hill runners call Half Mile Hill at about mile 2.4, then moves through beach sand, pine needles, tall grass, gravel and roots. A final climb near mile 12 tops out at a viewpoint, and the last mile drops through sand and pines toward the finish. The course gains about 2,400 feet.
