The Anchorage Mayor's Marathon is a marathon, half marathon, and several shorter races held each June near the summer solstice, when Anchorage has close to 22 hours of daylight. First run in 1972, it is organized jointly by the Municipality of Anchorage Parks and Recreation Department and the University of Alaska Anchorage Athletics Department. The marathon starts at Kincaid Park and finishes at Delaney Park Strip downtown, and its course is USA Track and Field certified as a Boston Marathon qualifier.Source
