Race Info
The Katsuta Marathon runs each January through Hitachinaka City and neighboring Tokai Village on Japan's Ibaraki coast. The Japan Association of Athletics Federations-certified course starts near Omotecho Shopping Street and finishes at Ishikawa Sports Plaza. Toshinori Watanabe holds the men's course record at 2:11:17, and Kiyoko Shimahara holds the women's record at 2:28:17. Results from the race count toward the Abbott World Marathon Majors Age Group World Rankings.
