Race Info
The Hatcher Pass 50 Mile starts at the top of Hatcher Pass near Hatcher Pass Lodge and Independence Mine, opening with a steep climb before dropping down Hatcher Pass Road toward Willow. At the bottom it reaches the Marathon start, turns around, and follows the marathon course back up the pass to the finish. The out-and-back route measures roughly 54 miles with about 5,000 feet of climbing, and the second half is a long, mostly uphill grind with switchbacks near the top. It runs on the Saturday of race weekend, ahead of the marathon.
