Race Info
The Discoveries Half Marathon (Meia Maratona dos Descobrimentos) runs through Lisbon's Belem district each late November, filling the calendar slot once held by the city's discontinued fall marathon. The course starts at Praca do Imperio, heads out Avenida da India toward Alges and back, then finishes at Praca do Museu da Marinha near the Centro Cultural de Belem. Along the flat, AIMS-certified route runners pass the Jeronimos Monastery, Belem Tower and the Monument to the Discoveries. First held in 2013, the race also offers a 10K, a 4K walk and a kids' race, and editions have drawn more than 10,000 participants across all distances.
