Race Info
The Funchal Marathon is run in Funchal, the capital of Madeira, on a Sunday in late January. The marathon covers four out-and-back laps of the flat Estrada Monumental and Avenida do Infante seafront road from Lido, then two laps around the Praça da Autonomia and Almirante Reis Garden in the city centre, and finishes in front of the Casa da Luz. It is organised by the Madeira Athletics Association, is a full member of AIMS, and has hosted the Portuguese Marathon Championships in 2024 and 2026. A half marathon and an 8.3 km mini marathon run the same morning.
