Big Island International Half Marathon
Race Day Weather
Warm start, chance of rain
A warm 74°F start means heat management is critical — consider dialing back your goal pace by 10-20 sec/mi. Temperatures rising to 83°F through the course will gradually increase perceived effort in the second half. Light winds shouldn't be a major factor for pacing. There's a chance of rain, so have a backup gear plan ready. Moderate humidity at 79% is worth noting for effort level, especially in later miles.

Race Info
The Half Marathon covers 13.1 miles along the Hilo shoreline, starting in the underground garage of the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel on Banyan Drive. It runs out through Bayfront Park to a turnaround near the Hilo lighthouse, then returns and heads east on Kalanianaole Avenue past the beach parks to a second turnaround at Orchid Manor. Most of the climbing comes on the westbound leg, and the Kalanianaole Avenue leg is nearly flat. The finish is on the lawn behind the hotel.
