Aspen Backcountry Heavy Half Marathon
Race Day Weather
Comfortable temps, big temp swing, chance of rain
Mild 56°F temps at gun time mean comfortable early miles without overheating risk. Temps will climb significantly to 71°F by later miles, so expect fading conditions as the race progresses. Light winds shouldn't be a major factor for pacing. There's a chance of rain, so have a backup gear plan ready.

Race Info
The Aspen Backcountry Heavy Half Marathon starts and finishes at Rio Grande Park in Aspen on the Saturday of race weekend. It climbs out of town on dirt trails past Henry Stein Park, Hummingbird and Smugglers, running longer than a standard half marathon with steep ascents and descents. The course begins at about 7,900 feet and peaks above 10,100 feet, so it is a high alpine trail run with views of the Elk Mountains and Aspen below.
