Race Info
The Wizz Air Sofia Marathon is Bulgaria's largest annual marathon, held each October in the capital city of Sofia. The race starts and finishes at Battenberg Square in front of the National Art Gallery. The marathon route heads out on a roughly 15-kilometer stretch toward Sofia Airport before returning through the city center past Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, while half marathoners run one loop of the same course. First held in 1983, the race is now a World Athletics Label Road Race and shares race weekend with a two-person relay and shorter 10K and 5K runs held the day before.
