Whistlestop Marathon
Race Day Weather
Cool start — fast day potential, big temp swing
A cool 41°F at the start line is ideal for fast times — expect to warm up quickly once you're moving. Temps will climb significantly to 58°F by later miles, so expect fading conditions as the race progresses. Light winds shouldn't be a major factor for pacing.

Race Info
The WhistleStop Marathon has run through northern Wisconsin's Chequamegon National Forest since 1998, organized by the Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce. The point-to-point course follows the crushed-limestone Tri-County Corridor rail-trail from near Iron River to Ashland on Lake Superior's south shore, with a gentle net downhill grade. The event includes a half marathon, 10K, and 5K alongside the full marathon, held annually each October during peak fall foliage. The full marathon is USATF-certified and a Boston Marathon qualifier.
