Rotorua Marathon
Race Day Weather
Cool start — fast day potential, warming through the race
A cool 48°F at the start line is ideal for fast times — expect to warm up quickly once you're moving. Temperatures rising to 60°F through the course will gradually increase perceived effort in the second half. Light winds shouldn't be a major factor for pacing. Moderate humidity at 79% is worth noting for effort level, especially in later miles.

Race Info
The Rotorua Marathon takes runners on a 42.195 km loop around Lake Rotorua in New Zealand's Bay of Plenty region. For 2027 the course direction reverses, running anticlockwise with a single start/finish hub at the redeveloped Rotorua lakefront near the Novotel Rotorua Lakeside. Companion events on race weekend include a half marathon, 10 km, 5 km, and a kids' mini marathon. First run in 1965, the marathon is organized by Athletics New Zealand.
