Hoover Dam Half Marathon
Race Day Weather
Cool start — fast day potential, warming through the race
A cool 48°F at the start line is ideal for fast times — expect to warm up quickly once you're moving. Temperatures rising to 60°F through the course will gradually increase perceived effort in the second half. Light winds shouldn't be a major factor for pacing.

Race Info
The half marathon at the Hoover Dam Marathon covers 13.1 miles on Lake Mead National Recreation Area trails near Boulder City, Nevada, and is one lap of the full marathon course. From the Boulder Beach picnic area it climbs gently along a wide roadway, joins the paved River Mountains Loop Trail through the Mojave Desert, then follows the hard-packed Historic Railroad Tunnel Trail through several 1930s railroad tunnels above Lake Mead. Six switchbacks lead down to a loop of the upper parking garage at Hoover Dam, with views of the dam and the bypass bridge, before runners retrace the route, run a short out-and-back past the Boulder Beach access road and finish at the picnic area. The course does not cross the dam; about 7 miles are packed dirt and the rest is paved, so road shoes are enough.
