Hiawassee Half Marathon
Race Day Weather
Cool start — fast day potential, big temp swing
A cool 45°F at the start line is ideal for fast times — expect to warm up quickly once you're moving. Temps will climb significantly to 61°F by later miles, so expect fading conditions as the race progresses. Light winds shouldn't be a major factor for pacing.

Race Info
The Hiawassee Half Marathon starts and finishes at Hiawassee Town Square in the north Georgia mountains, about two hours north of Atlanta. The course loops around the shoreline of Lake Chatuge on mostly flat, paved roads before returning to the square, paired with a shorter 5K starting an hour later. The Hiawassee Downtown Development Authority organizes the race, and proceeds support Hikeawassee, a free shuttle service for Appalachian Trail hikers passing through town. The inaugural race ran in March 2026.
