Helenback Marathon
Race Day Weather
Cool start — fast day potential, big temp swing
A cool 49°F at the start line is ideal for fast times — expect to warm up quickly once you're moving. Temps will climb significantly to 69°F by later miles, so expect fading conditions as the race progresses. Light winds shouldn't be a major factor for pacing.
The Helenback Marathon offers runners a challenging and scenic trail experience through the picturesque landscapes surrounding Helen, Georgia. Starting and finishing near the Chattahoochee River, participants navigate a course that includes a 400-foot climb into Unicoi State Park, traverses the Bottoms Loop Trail, crosses the Smith Creek Dam, and offers views of Anna Ruby Falls. The marathon features a 7-hour time limit, with aid stations approximately every 4–6 miles, and concludes with a celebratory post-race gathering. Source
