Race Info
The Guayaquil Marathon is Ecuador's oldest World Athletics-certified marathon, first run in 2005 and held every year on the first Sunday of October during the city's independence-week celebrations. The 42.195-kilometer course starts and finishes outside the Palacio Municipal at the corner of República de Guayaquil and Pichincha streets, near the Malecón 2000 waterfront. A 12K, a 21K half marathon and a 5K run alongside it, all starting at 4:00 AM. The race is a Boston Marathon qualifier and draws more than 2,000 runners from Ecuador and neighboring countries such as Colombia, Peru and Venezuela.
