Race Info
The Athens Authentic Marathon runs from the town of Marathon to the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens, retracing the route of the ancient messenger legend. The course climbs steadily through Pikermi and Pallini before a long downhill into the stadium's final stretch on its tartan track, one of the toughest mid-race climbs of any major marathon. It is a World Athletics Label Road Race held annually in early November and also serves as the Greek national marathon championship. The men's course record is 2:10:34, set by Edwin Kiptoo in 2023.
