The Virginia Marathon goes through Virginia’s horse and wine country. Developed by Old Dominion Racing, this event will include both live/in-person racing. The live race kicks off in historic Middleburg. Land at Dulles International Airport in Loudoun County and within 30 minutes, arrive at this postcard-worthy town dating back to 1787. Travel along paved roads (some gravel) in Loudoun and Fauquier counties, enjoying scenic vistas, horse farms, rolling countryside and plenty of shade. Everyone starts and ends at The Hill School, which is minutes from Middleburg’s downtown streets filled with boutiques and locally-owned restaurants. Athletes seeking a greater challenge can opt for the full Marathon or Merikós to go up Bull Run Mountain (elevation gain of 3000+ ft in total) and back again! Source
