Race Info
The Surfside Beach Marathon is held each February on the public beach at Surfside Beach, Texas, near Freeport on the Gulf of Mexico. The marathon and half marathon are run entirely on sand with no pavement, starting and finishing at Stahlman Park Pavilion: runners head west 1.44 miles, turn back past the start, and go east toward San Luis Pass to a turnaround a little over 5 miles from the park, with the marathon covering the course in two laps. There is no formal time limit, and walkers expecting a finish over seven hours start at 5:30 AM. A 10K, 5K and Kids K are run the same morning. Wikipedia
