The Shamrock Half Marathon shares the marathon's oceanfront start and Shore Drive stretch, starting at 42nd Street and Atlantic Avenue and finishing on the Virginia Beach Boardwalk near the King Neptune statue. The route runs north along tree-lined Shore Drive past First Landing State Park before turning back through Virginia Beach neighborhoods to the finish. It carries a 4-hour time limit, an 18:19-per-mile pace. The course record is 1:02:56 for men (Stephen Chemlany, 2009) and 1:11:27 for women (Helen Jemutai, 2012).
