Run for the Elk Half Marathon
Race Day Weather
Comfortable temps, warming through the race
Starting at 62°F, heat will be a factor from the gun — go out conservative and stay on top of hydration. Temperatures rising to 77°F through the course will gradually increase perceived effort in the second half. Light winds shouldn't be a major factor for pacing. Moderate humidity at 71% is worth noting for effort level, especially in later miles.

Race Info
The Run for the Elk Half Marathon is a single loop on the West Creek Industrial Trail, starting and finishing at 3rd and Chestnut Streets in downtown Emporium, Pennsylvania. The whole course is hard-packed crushed limestone rail trail, so regular road racing shoes work. Emporium calls itself the Elk Capital of Pennsylvania and sits in the middle of the state's wild elk range, and the course runs through that wooded valley country. The marathon is two laps of this same loop.
