The Half Marathon at the Mathews Marathon covers 13.1 miles of flat rural backroads in Mathews County, Virginia, on the Saturday of race weekend. It starts and finishes on Brickbat Road beside the Put In Creek Pavilion in the town of Mathews, heads out through town on dirt, gravel and paved roads, then runs out and back along Haven Beach Road through the area known as the Trident, passing one county beach. The course is USATF-certified, and runners can stay afterward for the weekly farmers market on the courthouse green.
