Race Info
The Marathon de La Rochelle has run through this Atlantic port city since 1991, reviving a local marathon tradition that had lapsed after the 1980s. It was renamed Marathon de La Rochelle - Serge Vigot in 2005 to honor its founder, who died while running the Marrakech Marathon that year. The course is a flat, twice-run loop through La Rochelle's historic center and Vieux Port, finishing near the Tour Saint-Nicolas and Tour de la Chaine at the harbor entrance. It is one of France's largest marathons by finisher count, trailing only Paris, and held IAAF/World Athletics Bronze Label status as of 2011.
