Comfortable temps, moderate wind

Mild 52°F temps at gun time mean comfortable early miles without overheating risk. Moderate winds around 14mph may affect pacing on open sections of the course. High humidity (84%) will make it harder to cool down through sweat — increase fluid intake accordingly.

Race Info

The Long Island Marathon began in 1973 as the Earth Day Marathon, a continuation of the Bronx-based Cherry Tree Marathon. It took its current name in 1978 and added a half marathon in 1984. The race starts and finishes in Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, with the marathon course completing two loops of the surrounding park roads and bike paths. Race Awesome now produces the event for the Nassau County Parks Conservancy as a multi-day weekend that also includes a half marathon, 10K, 5K, and kids' run.
