The marathon starts on the promenade by the Dan Eilat hotel, heads east toward the Red Mountains, then turns north along the Avocado axis into the desert, running the Roded and Netafim wadis and climbing the Eilat hills before descending technical trails and returning to finish on the Herods promenade. The course has about 650 m of climbing. A half marathon, 10K and 5K start the same morning, organized by Marathon Israel.
