Race Info
The 50 Mile starts and finishes at Half Day Forest Preserve in Vernon Hills, Illinois, and covers the Des Plaines River Trail in long out-and-back legs, with the farthest turnaround at Wadsworth in the north of Lake County. The surface is wide, flat crushed limestone that moves between shaded forest and open wetland, and bridges or viaducts carry the trail over the major roads, leaving only four minor road crossings. The race runs on the Saturday of race weekend, ahead of the marathon and half marathon.
