Race Info
The 50K starts and finishes at Half Day Forest Preserve in Vernon Hills, Illinois, and runs out-and-back stretches of the Des Plaines River Trail through the Lake County forest preserves. The trail is flat, wide crushed limestone with no roots or rocks, running through forest and open wetland, and it has only four minor road crossings because bridges and viaducts carry the major roads. It is the second ultra on the Saturday schedule, run alongside the 50 Mile and the marathon.
