About the Chessie Trail Half Marathon
The Chessie Trail Half Marathon runs 13.1 miles on the gravel and grass rail trail beside the Maury River between Lexington and Buena Vista, Virginia. It starts at McKethan Park under the I-81 overpass at the midpoint of the trail, goes about 4.25 miles toward Buena Vista, turns at the boat launch and returns past the start line to the Lexington trailhead before looping back about 2.5 miles to finish at the park. The former Chesapeake and Ohio rail bed has a very gentle grade and no road crossings, and the course is USATF-certified.
