Ashland Half Marathon
Race Day Weather
Warm start, adjust pace early
Runners will face temperatures starting at 69°F and climbing to 81°F, with high humidity at 82%. A light headwind from the southeast will be present in miles 11-13, making those sections tougher. Given the heat and humidity, it's advisable for runners to pace conservatively and hydrate frequently, especially in the warmer middle miles.

Race Info
The Ashland Half Marathon & 5K runs through Ashland, Virginia, a small town north of Richmond nicknamed The Center of the Universe. The course starts and finishes on the campus of Randolph-Macon College and loops through Hanover County farmland before returning through Ashland historic railroad district, close enough to the tracks that runners sometimes pass a moving train along the way. Sports Backers and the Richmond Road Runners Club organize the race, which ran for over a decade as the Patrick Henry Half Marathon before its 2021 rename. The weekend also includes a 5K and virtual versions of both distances.
