About the Apple Dumpling Day Half Marathon
The Apple Dumpling Day Half Marathon starts in the village of Hustler, Wisconsin, runs about a mile north on the Omaha Trail, then turns and heads south toward Elroy. Runners pass through the 875-foot railroad tunnel, built in 1876, roughly six miles in. The course then leaves the trail for a stretch of Elroy streets that includes a covered bridge and the Elroy Commons, and finishes on the 400 Trail at Schultz Park. It is a point-to-point run on mostly shaded rail-trail on the first Saturday after Labor Day.
