A flat, fast course that winds through Burlington and along Lake Champlain, the MTBVCM is a community effort, recognizing all those who have had a hand in making the race a success since 1989. The race hits the best of Burlington including the Church Street Marketplace and Burlington Bike Path. The course is a double loop which starts and finishes in Waterfront Park. Source

Thousands of runners gathered at Waterfront Park in Burlington for the 35th annual Vermont City Marathon Sunday, but they shared the spotlight with an iconic Vermont business. Darn Tough, a brand known throughout Vermont and celebrated in the outdoor sports world for its performance footwear, got its start at the marathon 20 years ago, and held an anniversary party at the race.
The 35th Vermont City Marathon is officially underway, and the winners in this year's race are beginning to come in.
