Comfortable temps, warming through the race
Starting at 61°F, heat will be a factor from the gun — go out conservative and stay on top of hydration. Temperatures rising to 72°F through the course will gradually increase perceived effort in the second half. Light winds shouldn't be a major factor for pacing. High humidity (92%) will make it harder to cool down through sweat — increase fluid intake accordingly.

Race Info
The Oktoberfest 5K starts and finishes at the beer garden on Lyman Street in Asheville's River Arts District. It opens with a loop through the neighborhood, then follows the RAD Greenway out and back past the riverfront breweries before returning to the finish. The course is flat, mostly off the main roads, and held on the Saturday of race weekend alongside the half marathon. It is USATF-certified, and strollers and walkers are welcome.
