New England Green River Marathon
Race Day Weather
Warm finish, headwind challenges early
Runners will face a temperature rise from 60°F at the start to a warm 79°F by the finish, coupled with an average humidity of 69%. A consistent headwind will challenge runners between miles 2-21, particularly on exposed stretches, necessitating pacing adjustments. As the temperature climbs, hydration frequency should increase, especially after mile 18, where a significant descent may provide brief relief.

The New England Green River Marathon is one of the most beautiful races in New England. Starting in Marlboro, Vermont and following the course of the Green River through an 1870’s covered bridge, and ending with a finish-line celebration in the shade of maple trees at Greenfield Community College in Massachusetts. This USATF-certified (Certification MA18003JK) course has a net 1,400 foot drop over a rolling, downhill course that has seen many personal best and Boston qualifying times for well-trained runners.
