Race Info
The International Peace Marathon, also called the Abebe Bikila Day International Peace Marathon, is run on the C&O Canal Towpath in Washington, DC, starting and finishing at Fletcher's Cove, in memory of Ethiopian Olympic champion Abebe Bikila. The marathon is two out-and-back trips along the Potomac River and the half marathon is one, on a flat USATF-certified course (DC09005RT). The marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier. The organizers have said this race and their October 17, 2026 Potomac River Run will be the last marathons they host.
