Race Info
The Governor's Cup is Montana's longest-running road race weekend, held annually in Helena, typically the second Saturday of June. Since 2025 the organizers have postponed the full marathon, citing a surface change on the first three miles of the marathon course and logistical challenges; as of the 2026 running the marathon remains paused. The weekend still includes a Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and Mile Run, benefiting The Caring Foundation of Montana, presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana. The marathon course, when run, is a point-to-point 26.2-mile route starting near the ghost town of Wickes, with a hilly stretch from miles 16 to 20 and a climb known as Cardiac Hill at mile 24. It has been a USATF-certified Boston Qualifier. 2024 marked the race's 50th anniversary.
