Cool temps, manageable winds

Runners will face a steady temperature rise from 48°F to 57°F, ideal for racing. Wind will start as a crosswind and shift to a tailwind during key segments from miles 8 to 11, offering potential for faster times. With humidity at 70%, hydration should be prioritized, especially in the later miles. Expect headwinds from miles 3-6 and 12-15, requiring strategic pacing adjustments during these stretches.

Race Day Tips

logistics

Arrive at least an hour early to navigate the bag drop and warm-up effectively, as the start area can get crowded, especially with the fence separating the mass start from the elites causing delays.

strategy

The hydration stations can get chaotic, particularly around the 27 km mark, so consider maintaining a steady pace and not getting caught up in the rush to avoid losing time.

strategy

Expect a flat course throughout, which is great for pacing, but be mindful of the potential for a strong push after the 27 km mark when crowd energy peaks, especially over Dronning Louise's bridge.

nutrition

Aid stations serve water and sports drinks, so it's wise to test the specific brand they provide beforehand to ensure it agrees with your stomach on race day.

gear

Consider wearing shoes with good grip for the small section on stones around the 7 km mark to avoid slipping, as it can be a tricky surface.

Word on the course

Crowd Energy — The crowd support throughout the race is a standout feature. Many runners noted the contagious party vibe, especially around Dronning Louise's bridge at 27 km, where the atmosphere felt electric with live DJs and cheers.

Hydration Station Chaos — Expect some chaos at the hydration stations. Reports mention runners colliding and sprinting to stay with pacers, which can disrupt your rhythm. Stay alert and pace yourself through these sections.

Course Layout — The course is notably flat and urban, making it ideal for fast times. However, be prepared for busy early kilometers as runners jostle for position. This can lead to a slower start, but many found their groove after a few kilometers.

Pre-Race Logistics — Arrive early to navigate bag drop and warm-up effectively. Some runners faced issues with delayed starts due to barricades, so plan to position yourself wisely at the front to avoid getting stuck behind slower runners at the gun.

Struggled with knee pain but focused on finishing strong

A little further there was another one, on his fours puking. I calmed myself, telling myself that my body feels fine and nothing is gonna happen. Just focus. Around 27km in I felt a pain in my left knee. The same knee that hurt on my long runs.

Epic crowd energy at 27 km made me want to move to Copenhagen!

The highlight of the race was after 27 km, going over Dronning Louise's bridge, where NBRO Running and the show they put on basically made me want to go home, pack up my stuff and move to Copenhagen immediately. My face was nothing but a smile, and I had chills all over my beaten-up body which lasted two more kilometers. Thank you, NBRO, keep doing this you legends.

Incredible crowd support created a party atmosphere throughout the race

The crowds I have to mention, were incredible. Doing a few sort-of loops meant crowds lined the whole race and the atmosphere was contagious, a real party vibe. Found myself high-fiveing kids watching and the many cheeerzones with live dj's, confetti cannons, flares, megaphones and sirens really were next level from any other race I'd done.
