The Budapest Marathon (Hungarian: Budapest Maraton), branded since 2009 as the SPAR Budapest Marathon under its title sponsor, is an annual marathon and multi-distance sport festival held in Budapest, Hungary, usually on the second weekend of October. The current version of the race has been held since 1984, though an annual marathon in Budapest dates back to 1961. Budapest Sportiroda ('Budapest Sports Office', BSI) has organized the event since 1989. The course starts and finishes near Eotvos Lorand University's Lagymanyosi campus and follows the Danube past Buda Castle, the Chain Bridge, and the Parliament Building. Wikipedia
