Boilermaker Weather Preview

Taking place in Utica, NY, the weather for this race traditionally skews all over the place. This year is an exception to that with the average temperature being on keel with the averages over the past 10 years. Expect a temp of 67º at the start line rising to the day’s high of 75º later in the day. We consider this a bit warm for running, but since it’s not a marathon, the overall affects aren’t as bad.

Luckily for those runners who are going to be out there for over an hour, a break in the humidity should come about 45-60 minutes into the race with a bit of rain that should help cool you down and clean up the sweat that’s been struggling to evaporate. Wind shouldn’t be too much of a factor.

The cloud cover will keep the sun more or less out of the way, but could result in some cool down post-race. It might be worth having a dry set of clothes on hand to change into or a towel to wipe yourself down with.

Overall this is pretty great weather for a 15K, with a RunScore of a 9 that drops to an 8 later on in the race.

Weather forecasts are always changing, especially when it comes to rain. Head over to the Boilermaker 15K race page to subscribe to weather updates as we get closer to race day.
