Silver Comet Marathon
Race Day Weather
Comfortable temps, big temp swing
Mild 50°F temps at gun time mean comfortable early miles without overheating risk. Temps will climb significantly to 68°F by later miles, so expect fading conditions as the race progresses. Light winds shouldn't be a major factor for pacing. Moderate humidity at 67% is worth noting for effort level, especially in later miles.

Race Info
The Silver Comet Marathon runs on the paved Silver Comet Trail, a former railroad corridor west of Atlanta in Mableton, Georgia. The out-and-back course starts near the trail's Floyd Road trailhead, heads southwest toward the Alabama state line, then finishes near the Mavell Road trailhead in Smyrna. It is USATF-certified and a Boston Marathon qualifier, marketed as flat and fast. The race has run annually for over a decade alongside a half marathon on the same morning, part of the Silver Comet Races series that also puts on a spring 10K.
